Kori Skillman covers justice and accountability for the Baltimore Beat, investigating policing, incarceration and civil rights in Baltimore. Her background before The Beat was primarily in investigative and visual journalism. Kori most recently worked on ABC News’ assignment desk, covering breaking news and editing for live broadcasts. She also produced video and social media content for McClatchy Publishing. Her passion for social justice reporting–rooted in lived experience–grew during her investigative fellowship in Vermont, where she broke numerous stories on police accountability. Kori has also worked in both the Manhattan and San Diego County District Attorney’s Offices, covering trials and assisting with media communications; and before that covered the Covid 19 impact on Black Californians.
A Bay Area native, Kori holds a dual B.A. in journalism and international business from San Diego State University, with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa, and an M.S. from Columbia Journalism School.
